The Wine Guide: 004 - Local Favorites
A great day for a bottle or two with friends.
Hello friends!
With SXSW around the corner, we'll be sharing our favorite wine-centric events over the next few weeks. We’re also working on a few special interviews with local superstars and potentially a few events this spring. Let’s get into it.
Plot Twist for a Natural Wine Spot: Underdog, the natural wine bar meets upscale Korean spot that caught everyone's attention is closing March 8th. But before you get too sad - owners Claudia Lee and Richard Hargreave have something else up their sleeves.
Here's the details: They're pivoting to what they're calling a "neighborhood restaurant" concept with a mysterious new chef-partner. "What began as a wine bar has revealed its true potential," Lee says, and honestly? We're intrigued.
For those who haven't been, Underdog managed something pretty special in its short run since May 2023. They paired natural wines with immaculate Korean dishes and landed on best-of lists from Austin Monthly to World's 50 Best.
Speaking of Perfect Pairings: If you haven't made it to Flo’s in Tarrytown yet, you're missing out. Their wine list reads like a greatest hits album. Our move? Grab a pie from Allday Pizza (they're right there) and let the staff guide you to the perfect pour. Trust us on this one.
Sunday Funday: House Wine on South 1st is doing half off ALL glasses, ALL day, every Sunday. The kind of deal that makes you want to cancel your Monday morning meetings.
Want an Austin date night on us? Share the guide with just three friends (aka get them to subscribe), and you could win a $100 gift card to one of our favorite spots. Consider it our way of saying thanks.
